Remington Rebstock

Remington Rebstock is in his sixth season overall coaching the safeties at Old Dominion.
 
Rebstock took a rebuilt secondary in 2024 and led a group that featured three new starters and had the fifth most interceptions by an ODU team in program history. Transfers Jahron Manning and Will Jones II led the way, finishing in the top-10 of the Sun Belt with three interceptions apiece, while Manning ranked sixth in the league in tackles.
 
Mario Easterly started the final seven games of the season and grew into his own, notching a career-best 43 tackles and two pass breakups. 
 
Manning finished second on the team with 85 tackles, three interceptions and 5.5 tackles for loss, while Jones totaled 44 stops, 3.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions and a sack. 
 
Rebstock prepared multiple rotational players to play in various downs and distances, as Markus Knight recorded 25 tackles and had an interception to set up a touchdown in the win over Texas State. Freshmen Jerome Carter and Daevon Iles earned valuable reps throughout the season, recording 23 and 14 tackles respectively.
 
In his fourth season in Norfolk, Rebstock led a veteran group of safeties, including Sun Belt honorable mention winners Shawn Asbury and Terry Jones. Jones  finished 26th in the country in tackles per game and finished with 107 on the year. Jones and Asbury combined for 200 stops on the year, with Asbury adding 93 tackles. Reserve safety Markus Knight played in passing downs and led the Monarchs in interceptions with two and also recovered a fumble.

Rebstock helped senior safety R'Tarriun to Sun Belt Conference honorable mention honors, as Johnson finished second on the team with 88 tackles, a pair of sacks and an interception. In total, four safeties recorded interceptions on the year, while Terry Jones tied for the team lead with two interceptions.

Johnson, Jones and Robert Kennedy finished second, third and fifth, respectively, on the team in tackles while Jones tied for fourth with 5.5 tackles for loss.

In 2021, Rebstock helped lead the way for the safeties to put their mark on the ODU defense. In his first year as a starter, R'Tarriun Johnson finished second on the team with 91 tackles and tied for the team lead with two interceptions and earned all-conference honors.. He tied for the team lead in interceptions with fellow safety, Joe Joe Headen. Headen, like Johnson, started 12-of-13 games and finished the year with 58 tackles and the two picks. He finished his career second in ODU history with 21 pass breakups. Mid-way through the season Terry Jones developed into a force at safety. Through the first five games of the season, Jones had four tackles. He finished the season with 65 stops as well as blocked a kick. 

The previous two years he coached the secondary at UTEP. He led the cornerbacks in 2018 and coached current Miami Dolphins starter Nik Needham.

Prior to UTEP, he spent three years as a defensive graduate assistant at Oklahoma State, helping in the secondary. While with the Cowboys he went to three bowl games and contributed to OSU’s three-straight 10-win seasons.

He began his coaching career in 2009 as a student assistant at Kansas State and was later a graduate assistant and co-director of recruiting for the Wildcats.

He and his wife, Alex, have one son, Owen. Alex was an assistant softball coach at UTEP for two seasons.
