Jonathan Decoster is in his first season as tight ends coach at Old Dominion.

Decoster comes to ODU after spending the last three seasons as a graduate assistant tight ends coach for the 2019-20 FBS National Champion, LSU. The Tigers led the nation in total offense, scoring offense and red zone offense in 2019 and finished second in passing offense. He coached Thad Moss, one of the most productive tight ends in LSU history. Moss was a key part of LSU’s record-setting offense as a pass-catching threat and effective blocker in running situations. Moss holds the LSU single-season record for receptions (45) and receiving yards by a tight end. Following the historic 2019-20 season, Moss and Stephen Sullivan signed with the Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks, respectively.

In 2018-19 at LSU, Decoster coached Foster Moreau, who was a fourth round pick in the 2019 draft by the Oakland Raiders. Moreau was LSU's first tight end drafted in 11 years.

He coached the offensive line at West Virginia State for two seasons (2015 and 2016), helping the Yellow Jackets break 15 school records. DeCoster began his coaching career in 2013 as a graduate assistant offensive line coach at Nevada.

DeCoster was a four-year starter at right tackle at Louisiana Lafayette. He helped the Ragin’ Cajuns finish in the top 10 in FBS rushing two-straight years.
