He directly oversaw all the daily facets of training for football, men's and women's lacrosse, and field hockey. With the Colts, he helped supervise and implement flexibility, strength, and conditioning programs for the players, as well as assist with data analysis, testing for performance, and evaluating current scientific research as it pertains to performance enhancement. During his time with the Irish, Martin implemented and supervised programs for football, as well as all 26 of Notre Dame's Olympic varsity sports.

While pursuing his master's degree at Indiana State, Martin worked as a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Sycamores, working along side baseball, volleyball, and women's basketball and interned at Northwestern University, working specifically with men's soccer, golf, tennis, and wrestling.

Martin has ties to the Hampton Roads area as he was an intern with the football team at the Apprentice School, coaching the tight ends in a West Coast style offense, as well as assisting with special teams.

Before coming to the Hampton Roads region, Martin worked at Acceleration, Indiana as a sports specific trainer, while obtaining his undergraduate degree at Anderson University.

Martin received a B.A. in physical education from Anderson University in 1998 and was awarded a M.S. in exercise science/biomechanics from Indiana State in 2000.
