Field Hockey Travels To Towson, Delaware

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion University field hockey team picked up a pair of Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) weekly awards as junior midfielder Dana Sensenig (Denver, Pa.) was named Co-Player of the Week and freshman midfielder Denise Admiraal (Heiloo, Holland) was named the Rookie of the Week.

Sensenig collected seven points from three goals and an assist in ODU's 2-0 week, which included a 3-2 victory over #17 James Madison and an 8-2 win at Towson. On Friday against the Dukes, Sensenig registered her team-leading third game-winner to give the Lady Monarchs a 3-0 edge with 30 minutes remaining in the game. On Sunday, the Denver, Pa. product was one of five Lady Monarchs and one of three multiple scorers to record a goal in ODU's highest goal output of the season. Sensenig is a top the Old Dominion scoring charts for the season having registered 10 goals, six assists, and 26 points.

Admiraal wins her first CAA weekly award Rookie after recording three goals in in ODU's 2-0 week. She helped ODU to a 2-0 lead midway through the first half in Friday night's victory over the Dukes. On Sunday, the Holland native joined Sensenig as one of five Lady Monarchs and one of three multiple scorers to record a goal in ODU's highest goal output of the season. She captured the game-winner just moments before the half, giving the Lady Monarchs a 3-2 lead. To date, Admiraal has recorded eight goals, three assists, and 19 points and is the Lady Monarchs' third leading scorer.

The Lady Monarchs return to action this weekend in two home contests at Foreman Field. Old Dominion hosts Virginia Commonwealth on Friday, October 7th and the 2004 CAA Champions, Delaware, on Sunday, October 9th.
