NORFOLK, Va. -- The seventh ranked Old Dominion field hockey team concluded the 2005 regular season this weekend hosting #4 North Carolina on Saturday and traveling to William & Mary on Sunday for the regular season finale. Saturday's game against the Tar Heels will not only be the final regular season home game, but the annual scholarship game with the five-dollar admission to benefit the Intercollegiate Foundation for Field Hockey Scholarships. Additionally, the Lady Monarch seniors will be honored prior to the game.

· The Lady Monarchs went 2-0 last week with victories over #13 Northeastern, 3-1, and Hofstra, 1-0
· Last Friday afternoon against the Huskies, Old Dominion handed Northeastern its first CAA loss and took sole possession of first place in the league. The Lady Monarchs overcame a 1-0 deficit created by the Huskies in the 10th minute of the game, with three unanswered goals within a six-minute span late in the second half.
· The 1-0 victory over Hofstra then on Sunday clinched the 2005 regular season title for the Lady Monarchs. The shutout also marked fifth of the season.
· Junior midfielder Dana Sensenig picked up her second CAA Player of the Week honor after guiding the Lady Monarchs to their 2-0 weekend last week. The Denver, Pa. Native tied the game collected the game-winner, her team-leading fourth, and added in an insurance goal against Northeastern and then was apart of the penalty corner unit which tallied ODU's lone goal in the 1-0 victory over Hofstra which clinched the 2005 regular season title.
· In the national stats this week, the Lady Monarchs as a team are ranked fifth in the national in margin of victory. Old Dominion is winning their games by an average of 2.36 goals per game.
· Individually, a trio of Lady Monarchs continue to be ranked in the goals and points categories. Junior Dana Sensenig is sixth in total points (41), eighth in points per game (2.28), 10th in total goals (14), and 16th in goals per game (0.78). Meanwhile senior Janelle Engle is ninth in total points (37), 12th in points per game (2.06), seventh in total goals (15), and ninth in goals per game (0.83). Freshman Denise Admirral is 13th in total points (33), 10th in total goals (14), and 16th in goals per game (0.78).
· Two Lady Monarchs are ranked in the assists category. Junior Caroline Nichols is tied for first with 17 and tied for second in assists per game (0.94). Dana Sensenig is tied for fifth with 13 assists and tied for 11th in assists per game (0.72).

· North Carolina tops in the nation in scoring defense. The Tar Heels are only allowing an average of .720 goals scored per game and have accumulated nine shutouts.
· Katy Tran, UNC's goalkeeper, leads the nation in goals against average at .757. She is also second nationally in save percentage at .826. Over the Tar Heel's 16 games to date, Tran has made a total of 16 stops in net.
· Junior midfielder Rachel Dawon leads North Carolina in scoring. She has 23 points from eight goals and seven assists. Dawson missed the first meeting with the Lady Monarchs as she was with the National U-21 team in Santiago, Chile competing in the Women's Junior World Cup.
· Second on the stat sheet is Heather Kendell, who has seven goals, eight assists, and 22 points.
· Last time against the Tar Heels, the Lady Monarchs outshot UNC, 11-5, and outcornered the Tar Heels, 10-2, but Carolina's Britt van Beek tallied the lone goal of the game with just over seven minutes remaining in the game. Six different Lady Monarchs registered shots led by senior Janelle Engle with five.

· William & Mary will travel to Towson in a critical CAA match-up on Friday before returning home to close out their 2005 regular season with against the Lady Monarchs.
· The Tribe is currently in fifth place in the CAA heading into the final stretch. William & Mary has dropped it last three games and four of their last five.
· William & Mary has certainly had its share of overtime games. The Tribe needed extra time to get past Syracuse, but ended up falling in extra time to Penn State, Richmond, and James Madison.
· Kelly Giles and Gina Cimarelli are the Tribe's leading scorers. Both has 12 points from five goals and two assists.
· Jessica Kacerek is the only other Tribe player with double-digit points on the season. Kacerek has 10 points from three goals and four assists.

NCAA Anniversary Team:
In conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championships, the NCAA has announced the 25th Anniversary Division I Field Hockey Team, which includes former Lady Monarch field hockey legends Marina DiGiacomo, Christy Morgan, and Robin Smith along with veteran head coach Beth Anders.
Up Next:
The Lady Monarchs head into CAA Tournament action at Foreman Field as the top seed. Old Dominion will welcome the expanded six-team bracket to Norfolk beginning on Friday. The top two seeds will receive byes and competition begins on Friday.
