NORFOLK, VA. - The Old Dominion University men's soccer team willkick-off the 2003 season with an exhibition match at the University of VirginiaTuesday night at Klockner Stadium in Charlottesville, Va. Kick-off is 7 p.m. This isthe first of two exhibition matches, ODU will travel to North Carolina on Aug. 23rd.
The Monarchs are pre-season picked second in the CAA, while Virginia hasbeen picked by the ACC coaches to finish third. ODU has six starters back, includingtwo-time CAA Player of the Year Attila Vendegh (Bratislava, Slovakia), who is alreadythe school's career leader in goals (46), and points (108). Also back is two-time All-CAAdefender Trevor McEachron (Woodbridge, VA.) and senior goalkeeper Sam Cameron(Raleigh, NC.).
The Monarchs open the regular season on Aug. 29 when they host St. Francis(Pa.).
