NEW ORLEANS – For the second time in three weeks, Puneet Bajwa has been named the Sun Belt Women’s Golfer of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday.
The fourth year from Mohali, India won the sixth annual Evie Odom last weekend at Princess Anne Golf Club with a seven-under par 203. Bajwa started off the tournament with an opening round of two-under 68 on Friday morning, then followed with a second round of five-under 65 in the afternoon. For her final 18 holes, she handed in an even score of 70. She led ODU with 11 birdies and 39 putts for par over the two days.
This marks the fourth career weekly honor for Bajwa and her second this fall after earning the distinction back on Oct. 1. It’s also the third time a Monarch has been named Golfer of the Week this fall after Lucia Gonzalez was selected on Sept. 24.
This was the second time Bajwa has medaled at the Evie Odom Invitational. As a freshman in 2023, she recorded a five-under par 205 to finish as the individual runner-up. That effort led to her securing her first career weekly honor.
Bajwa is done for the fall, but ODU will send Julia Colombier and Tereza Fialová to Midlothian, Virginia next week to play as individuals in Richmond’s Spider Invitational, which will be held at Independence Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
