BOILING SPRING, NC. – Old Dominion University Swimming went on the road for the first time this season and defeated Gardner-Webb. The Old Dominion men's team rolled past Gardner Webb 220-118 in the two-day meet. The Lady Monarchs also picked up their first win of the season with a score of 204.5-131.5.
"We were coming off of a lot of really awesome momentum last week and really stepped it up leading into this week. They have done a great job so far this season putting their races together, and this weekend they were prepared to get to the wall first while working as a team for great results," said Head Coach Jess Livsey.
The two-day meet began with the women's 200-yard medley of Addie Elliott, Yanitsa Karlova, Emma Seidel, and Bella Pachek took second with a time of 1:44.60.
The men's team of Jacob Glans, Toni Sallaku, Dawson Truong, and Zachary Redding finished at the top in the men's 200-yard medley with a time of 1:29.74.
The Lady Monarchs finished 1-2-3 in the 1000 yard free starting with Martina Llorach Fustes with a time of 10:17.47, following her was Sophia Kapla with a time of 10:24.70, and finishing in third was Anna Eberle with a time of 10:46.27.
Jonathan Panye finishes first in the 1000 yard free for the second meet in a row with a time of 9:20.17. Cooper Beebe followed behind him in third with a time of 9:52.64.
Adrienne Rinker placed first in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:54.16. Following her in third with a time of 1:54.79 was Mallory Mackay.
Nick Martin with a second-place finish in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:41.07. Shortly behind him in third was Robby Young with a time of 1:42.39.
Elliot finished at the top in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.94. Pachek followed her with a third-place finish with a time of 58.42.
Glans placed first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 49.13. Lucas Abd followed him in third with a time of 51.54.
Seidel took second in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 25.82. Behind her third was Savannah Harris with a time of 26.02.
Redding continued where he left off last week with a first-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 21.60. Nick Chierico finished third with a time of 22.70.
Rinker took second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.34. Followed her in third was Karlova with a time of 1:05.89.
Truong took first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 55.39, following him in third was Sallaku with a time of 55.89.
Harris finished at the top of the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.12. Behind her second was Linnea Kallebo with a time of 2:09.24.
Zane Nall placed first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:53.63. Shortly behind him in second was Abd with a time of 1:54.30.
Karlova took first in the 100-yard IM with a time of 58.64. Following her in second was Rinker with a time of 58.87.
Truong with his third first place finish of the meet this time in the 100-yard IM with a time of 51.66. Following him in second was Julian with a time of 52.34.
Elliott took second in the 50-yard free with a time of 24.22. Pachek followed him in third was Pachek with a time of 24.74.
Redding with his third first place finish of the day with a time of 20.09. Young takes third with a time of 21.12.
Truong took second in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 25.51. Shortly after him in third was Sallaku with a time of 25.93.
In a rarity, Rinker tied for first in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 30.01.
Redding with another first place finish this time in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 43.83. Behind him in third was Young with a time of 46.52.
Pachek took second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.41.
Glans with another top three finish this time in second with a time of 1:49.78 in the 200-yard backstroke. Abd finished behind him in third was 1:53.61.
Elliot finished at the top of the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:02.22. Not long after her finishing in second was Kallebo with a time of 2:06.32.
Sallaku took first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:04.57. Ryland Harrell took third with a time of 2:07.20.
Another 1-2-3 finish for the Monarchs in the 200-yard breaststroke, starting with Rinker with a time of 2:24.76, following her was Karlova with a time of 2:25.70, and followed her was Natalie Brezinsky with a time of 2:26.21.
Panye took first in the 500-yard free with a time of 4:34.04. Behind him in third was Evan Vinarov with a time of 4:42.96.
Once again taking 1-2-3 for the third time of the meet in the 500-yard free starting with Llorach Fustes with a time of 5:05.63, following her was Kapla with a time of 5:10.56, followed her was Kallebo with a time of 5:14.68.
Glans took first in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 22.96.
Elliott at the top once again this time in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 25.52. Following her in third was Pachek with a time of 26.97.
Taking 1-2 in the 100-yard butterfly was Redding with a time of 47.74. Following him was Truong with a time of 50.32.
Harris took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.82.
Julian took second in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:08.32. Abd finished behind him in third with a time of 4:14.14.
Monarchs keep rolling with another 1-2-3 finish in the 400-yard IM starting with Karlova with a time of 4:35.84, following her was Kapla with a time of 4:38.49, followed her was Rinker with a time of 4:39.63.
The men Monarchs took first in the 400-yard free relay with a team made up of Truong, Young, Chierico, and Redding with a time of 3:03.79. Behind them in third made of Martin Harrell, Glans, and Panye with a time of 3:09.44.
