LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the seventh year in a row, Old Dominion Volleyball has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon.
The Monarchs are among 1,432 collegiate and high school programs to earn this year’s award. To be eligible, teams must maintain a year-long GPA of at least a 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale).
ODU continues to excel in the classroom. Kate Kilpatrick, Adrienne Peji, and Elisa Maggi all earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors back in December. Additionally, Kilpatrick was one of six ODU student-athletes that were named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Academic All-State Team on Tuesday.

The membership includes more than 10,000 collegiate, professional, high school, club, and youth volleyball coaches — primarily in the United States. The AVCA represents women’s volleyball, men’s volleyball, and beach volleyball coaches, and works to increase exposure and recognition for the sport of volleyball.
