NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s golf is headed to Southern Pines, North Carolina to play in the Sixth Annual Babygrande Golf Donald Ross Collegiate this Monday through Wednesday, March 9-11. George Mason is hosting the three-day tournament at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club, which has a par-72 course that is 6,657 total yards.
Monday and Tuesday will have split-tee starts beginning at 8:15 a.m., and Wednesday’s final round will begin at 9:05 a.m. The Donald Ross Collegiate will be streamed on YouTube and live stats will be available through Scoreboard by Clippd.
There will be a total of 20 teams competing in the tournament. In addition to ODU and the host Patriots will be Bowling Green, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Georgetown, George Washington, James Madison, Loyola Chicago, Ohio, Richmond, Robert Morris, Saint Joseph's (Pa.), St. Bonaventure, St. John's, St. Thomas (Minn.), South Dakota, Towson, VCU, and William & Mary.
Playing for the Monarchs will be Kaijun Ma, Cullen Campbell, Quin Covington, Jakub Sutor, and Heath Stout.
This will be the fifth year in a row that the Monarchs are playing in the Donald Ross Collegiate. ODU placed third out of 16 teams in 2024 with a combined three-under par 861. Jacob Gunther led the way with a 4-under 212 to tie for fifth. Jakob Chicoyne carded a three-over 210 to tie for 24th, and Ma turned in a four-over 220 to tie for 29th.
Ma led the team at last year’s tournament, finishing tied for 17th with a one-over par 217. As a team, the Monarchs tied for 13th at 29-over 893.
