ORLANDO, Fla. – Addison Elliott broke the Old Dominion University Swimming record in the 100 backstroke and the men’s 800 freestyle relay team set a new program record on the third day of the ASUN Swimming Championships.
In the first race of the night, Elliott set a school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.13 to finish in second place, just .09 behind the winner. Ally Hilbrich, swimming in the first conference championship of her career after battling injuries, finished in 10th with a time of 56.01. Samantha Allred took 15th in a time of 57.07.
Jordan Davis placed 10th in the men’s 100 backstroke with a time of 49.50 and Ben Schattenberg finished in 13th with a time of 50.39.
In the 100 breaststroke, Bryce Mortimer placed seventh with a time of 53.80, Toni Sallaku, 12th in a time of 54.76 and Michael Marotta 14th in a time of 56.02.
Linnea Kallebo led the Monarchs in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:05.51.
Zane Nall placed 15th in the men’s 200 fly in a time of 1:50.54.
The women’s 800 free relay team of Mallory Mackay, Kristilynn Mosley, Adrienne Rinker and Kallebo took sixth in a time of 7:33.74.
The men’s 800 free relay team of Schattenberg, Grey Bremer, Nick Martin and Zachary Redding bested the school record to place fourth in a time of 6:30.68.
The final day of the ASUN Championships begins on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with the prelims and 6 p.m. for the finals.
