NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s basketball has its home opener this Thursday as the Monarchs welcome Randolph College for a 7 p.m. game at Chartway Arena.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+. Fans can also tune into ESPN Sports Radio 94.1 to hear Ted Alexander and Dennis Wolff call the game. Live stats will also be available.

About ODU
The Monarchs (0-1) opened their season with an 87-72 loss at Miami (Ohio) on Monday in the first round of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. ODU jumped out to an 18-4 lead and was up 45-37 at halftime, but was held to just 27 points in the second half. It marked the third-ever meeting with the RedHawks.
LJ Thomas led the way with 13 points, six assists, and three rebounds. Also scoring in double figures were KC Shaw (11 points), Jordan Battle (10 points), and Caelum Swanton-Rodger (10 points). The Monarchs spread the ball around, with Jared Turner and Zacch Wiggins finishing with nine points apiece and Scottie Hubbard contributing eight points.
As a team, the Monarchs shot 47.2% (25-for-53) from the floor, including 42.9% (9-for-21) from beyond the arc, and 81.3% (13-for-16) at the free-throw line.
About Randolph
Thursday night will mark an exhibition game for the WildCats. Randolph is coming off a 2024-25 season that saw the team finish 9-16 overall and 3-13 against Old Dominion Athletic Conference opponents.
The WildCats have five returners this season in guards Marcus Scott, Camden Taylor, and TJ James Jr.; and forwards Elijah Cox and Viktor Parson. Cox is Randolph’s leading returning scorer after finishing fifth on the team last season with 134 points (5.6 ppg). He also finished second on the team last season with 31 three-pointers made. The team added JUCO transfers in Marcus Brown (Cleveland CC) and Chris Hayes (Virginia Peninsula CC) as well as Steven Burgess Jr., a transfer from fellow ODAC member Bridgewater College. The WildCats also have 14 newcomers for this season, to include nine freshmen.
Randolph averaged 81.1 ppg in 2024-25, but allowed 86.5 ppg for a -5.4 scoring margin. The WildCats also shot 43.3% from the field, 30.9% from long range, and 73.1% at the charity stripe.
Head coach Evan Kee is entering his second season leading the program and previously spent five seasons at the Apprentice School from 2018-2024. The WildCats were picked to finish 11th in the ODAC Preseason Poll.
