NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s basketball continues its road swing this Tuesday as the Monarchs travel to Cincinnati for a 7 p.m. game at Xavier.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+, while Ted Alexander and Dennis Wolff will call the game on ESPN Sports Radio 94.1. Live stats will also be available.
Series History
Tuesday will mark the seventh meeting between the two programs and the first since Nov. 22, 2010 when ODU defeated Xavier, 67-58 in the Paradise Jam title game in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Frank Hassell led the Monarchs with 16 points and eight rebounds. He was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Ben Finney, who was named Tournament MVP.
ODU holds a 4-2 lead in the all-time series.

The Monarchs (2-2) are coming off a 96-73 loss at George Washington on Saturday night. ODU trailed by three, 44-41 at halftime, but the Revolutionaries scored 26 points in the first eight minutes of the second half to pull away. KC Shaw and Robert Davis Jr. led ODU with 14 points each.
Shaw and LJ Thomas are scoring 15.8 and 14.3 ppg, respectively to pace the Monarch offense. Jordan Battle is averaging 9.0 ppg and Scottie Hubbard is fourth on the team with 6.8 ppg. Hubbard and Jared Turner (5.3 ppg) have been ODU’s top shooters from beyond the arc so far with 13 combined threes. Shaw is third in the Sun Belt with 25 free throw attempts and has made 17 free throws for a .680 clip, and Battle is 14-for-17 (82.4% at the line. Caelum Swanton-Rodger (6.0 ppg) and Battle have both pulled down 22 rebounds and lead the Monarchs with 5.5 rpg. Thomas owns a team-high 17 assists, Battle and Thomas have combined to grab 11 steals, and Swanton-Rodger and Turner have made nine blocks.
Old Dominion has outscored its opponents by an average of 1.3 points, with the Monarchs netting 74.5 ppg against 73.3 ppg allowed. The Monarchs are shooting 44.9% from the field and 74.1% at the free-throw line. ODU ranks third in the Sun Belt with 29.8% shooting from distance and is second in the league with 27.5 defensive rebounds per game.
About Xavier
The Musketeers (2-2) started off the season with a 66-62 win over Marist on Nov. 3 and a 74-69 victory against Le Moyne on Nov. 6. Xavier then dropped a Nov. 10 meeting to Santa Clara, 87-68 and is coming off an 81-62 loss at Iowa last Friday, Nov. 14.
Xavier has three players scoring in double figures: Tre Carroll is the top scorer at 13.8 ppg, Roddie Anderson III is right behind him at 13.5 ppg, and Malik Messina-Moore is third with 10.5 ppg. Messina-Moore has knocked down a team-high seven threes, All Wright (6.8 ppg) has made six shots from the perimeter, and three other players are tied for third with five made threes. Anderson III has gotten to the charity stripe the most for the Musketeers, converting 21 of his 29 free throw attempts for a 72.4% success rate. Filip Borovicanin (6.8 ppg) is the top rebounder with 22 boards and 5.5 rpg. Messina-Moore leads Xavier with 13 assists, Anderson III and Borovicanin have seven steals each, and Anthony Robinson (3.2 ppg) has made six blocks.
The Musketeers have been outscored by their opponents by an average of 7.3 points. Xavier enters Tuesday’s contest averaging 67.5 ppg while giving up 74.8 ppg. The team is shooting 37.4% from the floor, 32.4% from long range, and 69.8% at the line.
Head Coach Richard Pitino is in his first year with the program following a four-year stint at the University of New Mexico. Anderson III is the lone returner for the Musketeers after redshirting last season and Pitino brought in 11 transfers for the 2025-26 season. Xavier was picked to finish eighth in the BIG EAST Preseason Poll after winning 22 games last season and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
