LAST TIME OUT VS MARSHALL:

The Monarchs played out a 0-0 draw in Norfolk on Oct. 23, 2024. ODU peppered the Thundering Herd net with 19 shots and nine on target. The Monarchs defense held Marshall to only one shot in the whole game. The Silver and Blue had four corner kicks in each half for eight total. Laura Klebek had the Monarchs’ last chance to secure the three points in the 82nd minute but fired her shot off the mark.

ABOUT ODU:

Sitting at 7-1-3, 3-0-2 in the Sun Belt, the Monarchs look to continue their good form this season against Marshall. Old Dominion enters this weekend with the fewest goals conceded in the Sun Belt (10). ODU enters this contest with several strengths to lean on, particularly in goalkeeping and in attacking talent.

Riley Mullen has been a dynamic presence in ODU’s attack. In the early 2025 stretch, she posted a four-point game at VCU and contributed consistently to their attacking output. Gry Boe Thrysoe has also chipped in with key contributions. She’s logged multi-point performances against Georgetown and last game against Troy. She can stretch defenses, take advantage of second balls, support in transitional play, and does the dirty work in her own half of the field. Ashley Economopoulos has emerged as another go-to attacker. She’s recorded multiple multi-point matches, including a two-goal performance against Southern Miss and a two goal, one assist game against Troy. Her threat lies in timing her runs into the box, exploiting gaps between defenders, and finishing chances when they present themselves.

Ellie Goodrich and Erin Jones have split time between the sticks. Through 11 games played, Goodrich has made five starts and Jones has six. Goodrich has a save percentage of .857 and has three shutouts. A graduate student, Jones has been selected against some of the tougher opponents on ODU’s schedule (Georgetown, Maryland, Liberty, and Virginia Tech) and has one clean sheet.

ABOUT MARSHALL:

The Thundering Herd enters this matchup riding some solid form in the 2025 Sun Belt season. In conference play, the Herd currently hold a 2-2-1 record in Sun Belt matches and sit with seven conference points, which places them fourth in the East Division standings. Overall, their record sits at 5–3–1, giving them a winning percentage of .611.

Players to watch for on the Thundering Herd include senior forward Bailey Fisher who leads the team in goals with six. Graduate student Marcella Alves has four goals and Fernanda Dantas has provided eight assists on the season which leads the Sun Belt.

Marshall has generated 21 total goals across all matches while conceding 13, a +8-goal differential in their favor. Marshall averages 2.33 shots on goal per match and allows their opponents 1.75 shots on goal per match.

Sophomore Goalkeeper Emma Durand has been good for Marshall this season with a save percentage of 55.6%. She’s conceded 12 goals in nine matches and has two clean sheets. Katie Mccutcheon and Alexix Wolgemuth have each played in two games, Wolgemuth has two starts and Mccutcheon has one.

UP NEXT:

The Monarchs stay on the road and head to Statesboro for a meeting with Georgia Southern on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Bo Pitts Field.
