NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s soccer hosts senior night at the ODU Soccer Complex on Friday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. against Sun Belt opponent Arkansas State.

The game will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available.

LAST TIME OUT:

The Monarchs fell 1-0 in Jonesboro on Oct. 27, 2024 against Arkansas State after Emma Riales found the winning goal in the 78th minute. ODU outshot the Red Wolves 22-6 and 9-2 in shots on target, but Old Dominion could not get the ball past Damaris Deschaine. ODU had two cracks at the apple before the final whistle blew. Rhea Kijowski had her shot stopped in the 88th minute and Alice Thompson was thwarted again by Deschaine with 49 seconds remaining.

ABOUT ODU:  

ODU will look to rebound this Friday night against Arkansas State. Defensively, the Monarchs have been solid, through their 14 matches they’ve surrendered just 13 goals.  Junior defender Ashlynn Kulha, a Sun Belt Preseason Defensive Player of the Year selection, will anchor the back line. ODU is coming off a 2-1 loss in Louisiana for their first SBC loss this season. Gry Boe Thrysoe controls the midfield and has added a scoring edge with four goals this season.

On the offensive side of the ball, senior forward Yuliia Khrystiuk and freshman forward Ashley Economopoulos have added a creative spark, recorded key assists, and helped convert chances. The senior from Ukraine has five assists and two goals and the freshman from Grantville, Pa. has four goals and five assists for 13 points. She is tied with junior midfielder Riley Mullen who has 13 points from four goals and five assists as well. Freshman midfielder Koto Davis also recently added a goal in the Monarchs’ last match against Louisiana.

In net, Erin Jones has played eight games, and Ellie Goodrich has played six. Jones has made two-straight starts. She has nine saves this season and one clean sheet. Goodrich has 13 saves and has four shutouts. 

ABOUT ARKANSAS STATE: 

Through six road contests, Arkansas State is 1-3-2 this season. They have a 3-6-4 overall record and are 1-5-2 in the Sun Belt to sit in fifth in the West Division and 11th in the conference.

Kennedy Horn leads the way for the Red Wolves with 21 points from nine goals and three assists. Her nine goals are good for third in the conference and her 0.69 goals per game and 1.62 points per game both rank second in the SBC. Alexia Watts and Keelyn Peacock have also contributed, with Watts tallying 10 points from four goals and two assists and Peacock registering seven points from five assists and one goal. The Red Wolves sit in the middle of the pack in the SBC in goals scored (23) and goals allowed (18).

Deschaine has played in 13 games at goalkeeper for A-State. She has made 49 saves with a 75.4% save percentage and has kept one shutout.
