NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s soccer stays on the road as the Monarchs are in Statesboro to play Georgia Southern on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. at Bo Pitts Field.

The game will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available for all fans who wish to follow along with the action.

LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE EAGLES.

ODU got an early opening goal by Rhea Kijowski in the 14th minute, and the Monarch defense held strong for the remaining 76 minutes to keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory over the Eagles. Old Dominion finished the night with 11 shots and five on target to the Eagles’ five shots and three on target. Georgia Southern’s Meredith Pugh both had a crack at getting a late equalizer in the 78th minute but Emily Bredek made the save.

ABOUT ODU:

The Monarchs are coming off an undefeated weekend which included a 5-3 win over Troy and a 0-0 draw at Marshall. Graduate Student Gry Boe Thrysoe earned Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors for her two goals across the two games. ODU sits atop the East Division in the Sun Belt with 12 conference points and six division points.

Riley Mullen leads the Silver and Blue with 13 points from four goals and five assists for a 1.18 points per game average. Freshman forward Ashley Economopoulos has made an impact in her first season with four goals and three assists in 12 games played. Thrsyoe and Khrystiuk both have nine points. Khrystiuk is tied with Mullen with five assists, Thrysoe’s four goals is tied for first with Economopoulos and Mullen, and Brooke Edwards has chipped in with three goals. Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch List and Sun Belt Preseason Defender of the Year Ashlynn Kulha has also found success on the other end of the pitch with two goals from corners and one assist.

Mullen’s five assists and 0.45 assists per game are third in the Sun Belt in all games played. All of her assists came in Sun Belt contests and that is first in the SBC. Her 13 points are seventh in the conference. Economopoulos has eight points in conference games from three goals and two assists, it sits at tied for third in the SBC.

The Monarchs as a team rank first in assists in conference games (19) and assists per game (3.17) as well as total shots (124) and points (47). ODU is tied for third with five goals allowed for 0.83 goals against average. ODU is second in goals (14) and goals per game (2.33) with a +9-goal differential.

Ellie Goodrich and Erin Jones have split time in the net with six starts each for the Monarchs this season. Goodrich is coming off a start at Marshall and leads ODU with four clean sheets in six starts (.667). Jones has had to take on tougher matchups this season, being in net for #19 Georgetown, Power Four opponent Maryland, and #21 Virginia Tech. She has made six saves and has one shutout.

ABOUT GS

Georgia Southern is 0-2-2 in its last four games and is coming off a 1-1 draw against Troy in Alabama. The Eagles are 2-8-4 over 14 games played and are coached by head coach Chris Adams. GS conceded one goal in a 1-0 defeat at #2 Tennessee on Sept. 7 and a 2-1 loss in an exhibition to Auburn to kick off the season on Sept. 2.

Bri Conley has 10 points from four goals and two assists, she has taken 32 shots with 15 on goal this season. Addison Comer has four goals, and Paisley Cathey has three goals and one assist to round out the top three-point getters on the Eagles.

Three different goalkeepers have seen time in net for GS. Katie Oakley has spent the most time with nine starts, has made 39 saves, and secured one shutout, Addison Daughtry has made three starts and has 12 saves, and Quinn Wilson has two starts, 10 saves, and one clean sheet.
