NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s soccer hosts the Liberty Flames on Sunday at 6 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Stadium. The game promotion for the match is the Office of Intercultural Relations Night in Norfolk.

The game will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available for all fans who want to follow along with the action.

LAST MEETING:

The Monarchs dropped a 2-0 loss in Lynchburg, Virginia on August 18, 2024. It was the second game that ODU played last season and the Monarchs went on to win four-out-of-five games following the loss. Halle Engle opened the scoring in the 7th minute thanks to an assist from Ivy Garner. ODU had five shots in the first half and eight shots in total but could not find the back of the net. The Flames grew their lead after Avery Paulson got on the end of a double-assist from Ava Goodman and Lysie Findley.

ABOUT ODU:

Old Dominion women’s soccer is coming off a 2-0 Power Four victory over the Maryland Terrapins on Sunday, August 24. ODU is on a two-game win streak after dispatching the Tribe, 1-0 in Norfolk the week prior. The Monarchs opened its season with a hard-fought 2-2 draw in Washington, D.C. against the #19 Georgetown. Gry Boe Thrysøe leveled the game in the 87th minute with a volley and assisted the opening goal to Madison Telmer in the 34th minute.

Thrysøe leads the team in scoring with two goals and five points. Freshman Ashley Economopoulos is second on the team with one goal and one assist for three points. Ashlynn Kulha is coming off a performance which warranted her first Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week selection this year after scoring a diving header and helping lead the Monarchs’ defense to its second-straight clean sheet. The junior from Holly Springs, North Carolina was also named to the 2025 Hermann Trophy Watchlist, which is college soccer’s oldest and most distinguished trophy.

Erin Jones has started two games in goal for the Monarchs, while Ellie Goodrich made one start against William & Mary. Both keepers are tied with three saves made.

ABOUT LU:

The Flames are coming off a 1-1 draw to Virginia Tech on Thursday, August 28 in Lynchburg. Prior to drawing at home, Liberty lost 2-0 to #17 Virginia after Lia Godfrey scored an unassisted goal in the 77th and Allie Ross put the game to bed in the 84th minute.

Sallie Garner, Lauren Littleton, Elise Graf, Gabby Miranda, Engle, Paulson, and Garner were all named to the 2025 C-USA Preseason All-Conference Team. Through five games, Garner leads the team with two goals and five points, Engle and Haley Noblit are tied for first on the team in assists (2). Ainsley Leja has started all five games in goal and has conceded five goals while making 12 saves.
