NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University men's golf has added another future Monarch as Head Coach Murray Rudisill announced the signing of Heath Stout on Tuesday. Stout marks the third commit for the 2025 recruiting class, joining Quin Covington and Vincent Berggren.

“Heath is a gifted ball striker and quite impressive on the golf course and in the classroom. I look forward to having him on the roster,” said Associate Head Coach Barry Marple.

A native of Brentwood, Tennessee, Stout served as team captain for the past two years at Ravenwood High School, earning Team MVP honors twice. A two-time individual finalist at the TSSAA Regionals, he posted one Top-5 finish and four Top-10 finishes in elite Junior Tournaments. He also tied for 13th at the 2024 Tournament of Champions at Belle Meade Country Club.

"Old Dominion University really impressed me from the moment I stepped on campus," said Stout. “It’s a beautiful campus surrounded by water and it’s a bonus to be so close to the beach.

“The coaching staff was very welcoming, and I’m blessed to have a spot on the team,” continued Stout. “It’s an honor to be able to play under such a stable and experienced coaching staff. I can tell the coaches really related well to all the players and the team dynamic is exactly what I envisioned myself.”

An honors student, he was selected into the Williamson County Entrepreneurship & Innovation Program and started his own golf business. His older sister Grace plays tennis at Wofford College and he also played baseball, soccer, hockey, flag football and varsity basketball growing up.

“I chose Old Dominion because I felt it was the best atmosphere for me academically and athletically. From the team to the coaches and the university, I really feel like it’s a place I can develop not only as a golfer, but also as a person. I’m super excited to get to work. Go Monarchs!”
