NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University men's golf Head Coach Murray Rudisill announced on Monday that Quin Covington has signed with the program. He is the first commit for the 2025 recruiting class and will join the Monarchs next fall.
“We are pleased to announce that Quin has accepted an ODU athletic golf scholarship for next fall,” Said Rudisill. “He is an outstanding young man who maintains a 4.4 GPA and should receive an academic scholarship as well. We feel Quin will make an immediate impact on our program next fall.”
A Cary, North Carolina native, Covington attends Green Level High School and plays at his local course, Prestonwood Country Club. He has been named to the Southwest Athletic All-Conference Team three years in a row as well making the North Carolina 4A State Tournament all three years. He has won 14 junior tournaments during that time, to include placing first out of a field of 100 golfers at the Pinecrest Invitational on April 24. He came in eighth place out of 126 golfers at the Carolinas Boys Junior PGA Championship on July 1-2 and made the cut at both the Men’s 9th Carolinian Amateur Championship (May 17-19) and the Men’s 64th North Carolina Amateur Championship (June 6-9). Covington also tied for third out of 50 golfers at the TYGA Coastal Plains Junior on June 12-13.
As of March, TYGA had him ranked 20th in North Carolina for the Class of 2025 while CGA Carolinas listed him 35th for the Class of 2025 in North and South Carolina.
"I chose Old Dominion because of the amazing coaching staff, the fun environment, and the great practice facilities. I feel like ODU is a place where I can really grow and achieve my athletic and academic goals," said Covington.
