ATLANTA – Old Dominion University swimmer Zachary Redding was named the Atlantic Sun Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and four additional swimmers, Gustaf Hansson, Bryce Mortimer, Ethan Reiser and Owen Rolph were named to the ASUN All-Academic Team, the ASUN announced on Wednesday.

Redding has a 4.0 GPA and is majoring in pre-nursing. He earned a pair of NCAA B-cut times and had four top four finishes at this year’s Atlantic Sun Championship meet. He finished second in the 50 freestyle with an NCAA B-cut time of 19.65 and helped ODU place second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:27.24. He placed third in the 100 freestyle with a B-cut time of 43.00, just .75 out of first place.
Hansson has a 4.0 GPA and is majoring in civil engineering. At the ASUN Championships, he placed fifth in the 200 backstroke final with a time of 1:47.27. He placed sixth in the 100 backstroke final with a time of 48.02.
Mortimer has a 3.86 GPA and is majoring in sports management. At the ASUN Championships, he placed first, breaking the ODU record, in the 200 breaststroke final with a time of 1:55.54. He placed second in the 100 breaststroke final with a time of 53.64 and third in the 200 IM final with a time of 1:47.16.
Reiser posts a 3.82 GPA and is majoring in supply chain management. At the ASUN Championships, he competed in the 200 butterfly prelim with a time of 1:59.35 and the 200 freestyle prelim with a time of 1:42.93.
Rolph has a 4.0 GPA and is majoring in biomedical sciences. At the ASUN Championships, competed in the 100 freestyle prelim with a time of 49.65 and the 200 butterfly prelim with a time of 1:54.99.
To be considered for the ASUN All-Academic Team, a swimmer must have a 3.5 GPA and be at least a sophomore.
