Men's Tennis Sweeps Louisiana In Nationally Ranked Battle

Men's Tennis Sweeps Ragin' Cajuns 4-0 on Friday
 
NORFOLK, Va. – The 53rd ranked Old Dominion men's tennis team used a tiebreaker to clinch doubles and three straight-set wins in singles to sweep 74th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns 4-0 in Sun Belt Conference action Friday.
 
"I am really proud of the guys. We focused on our defense and mental defense all week in practice and they bought in. We put that on the court today and the result reflects it," said ODU Head Coach Dominik Mueller.
 
In doubles, the Monarchs got the first winas Cosme Rolland de Ravel and Codie van Schalkwyk defeated Leonard Tramolay and Vasil Dimitrov 6-2 at No. 2. Louisiana answered with a 6-3 win at No. 1 to force the point to the No. 3 match. Aryan Saleh and Yanis Moundir take a 7-6 (7-3) win for the early 1-0 ODU lead.
 
Singles saw the Monarchs jump out quickly with taking the first sets in five of the six matches. Moundir helped lock up the doubles point and carried that momentum into singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 over William Ribero. Rolland de Ravel followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 over Sacha Grandvincent and the van Schalkwyk locked it up with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 4 over Dimitrov.
 
ODU is back in action on Saturday morning hosting Southern Miss at 10 a.m.
