Men's Tennis Drops Tough 4-3 Decision At Georgia Southern

 
 
STATESBORO, Ga. – The 49th-ranked Old Dominion men's tennis team dropped a hard fought 4-3 decision to Georgia Southern on Sunday afternoon to finish off a Georgia road weekend.
 
"We just can't fall behind like losing all six first sets. I couldn't be more proud of how we fought back and pushed back to go up 3-1, but when it was closing time we were hoping Georgia Southern would give it to us. And credit to them they didn't and deserved to win," said ODU Head Coach Dominik Mueller.
 
Doubles saw each match finish 6-4 as the Monarchs took the last two to claim the team point. After falling at No. 3, the top spot of Jakob Cadonau and Connor van Schalkwyk evened the doubles with their win. Cosme Rolland de Ravel and Codie van Schalkwyk claimed the team point with their win at No. 2.
 
Singles saw the Monarchs drop the first set at each spot. Yanis Moundir gave the Monarchs a 2-0 lead winning his match at No. 3 in the second set due to an injury by his opponent. Georgia Southern took a straight set win at No. 4, but Aryan Saleh responded with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 over Laurent Julia Calac for a 3-1 ODU advantage.
 
The host Eagles stormed back with three-set wins at the one, two and five spots to claim the victory
 
ODU is back home this weekend for Louisiana on Friday and Southern Miss on Saturday.
