Kapla Leads ODU at Swimming Open Water National Championships

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Old Dominion sophomore swimmer Sophia Kapla swam the CSCAA College Open Water National Championship 5K in a time of 1:04.52 to finish 30^th overall in the women’s division to lead the Monarchs on Sunday, Dec. 15.

Kapla led three ODU women in the event, while Sydney Welker finished in 99^th with a time of 1:11.50 and Julia de Camargo Gusso came in 106^th with a time of 1:13.34. Kapla’s time of 1:04.52 would have placed her 30^thin the men’s division as well.

Grey Bremer led six ODU men with a time of 1:09.38 to place 61^st in the men’s division. He was followed by Jamie Cleaver in 64^th with a time of 1:10.00, Xander Schreck in 74^th in 1:12.49, Cooper Beebe in 81^st with a time of 1:14.37, Ethan Reiser in 82^nd with a time of 1:14.45 and Carson Doll in 84^th with a time of 1:15.32.
