NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men’s basketball team returns to Chartway Arena on Monday, Dec. 2 to host William & Mary at 7 p.m.
The game will have live stats and will be streamed on ESPN+. Ted Alexander and Dennis Wolff will be on the call for ESPN Radio 94.1.
ODU leads the all-time series 71-23 but most recently lost 84-79 on December 6, 2023. Old Dominion won the first half going into the break up 41-36 but were second best in the second half conceding a 10-point differential to lose by five points. The Griffins’ shot 48% from deep, making 15 in the game. Charlie Williams and Trey Moss both scored 20+ points for the Eagles enroute to the victory.
ABOUT ODU:
ODU is returning to Norfolk, having played their last game at home 12 days ago in a 71-55 win against Randolph-Macon in the Paul Webb Classic. Since that game, the Monarchs dropped three games in the Cayman Islands Classic. Losses to Boston College (82-52), High Point (73-67), and Duquesne (67-54) put Old Dominion at a 2-6 record this season.
Robert Davis Jr. leads the team in scoring with 13.9 ppg. The sophomore transfer from UMass has averaged 3.5 3-pt field goals per game which ranks 21st nationally while averaging 35% shooting from deep (25-for-70). Devin Ceaser is second on the team in scoring with 13.6 ppg. with an average of 23 minutes off the bench. Ceaser leads the team with eight steals and averages a steal a game. Sean Durugordon is the team’s leading rebounder with 6.4 boards per game. Durugordon has grabbed 32 offensive rebounds, an average of 4 per game which ranks 11th in the NCAA. Caelum Swanton-Rodger, a sophomore transfer from Maryland, is an active force on the defensive end with 15 blocks and four steals this season. The junior from Calgary, Alberta, Canada averages 1.88 blocks per game which places him within the top 50 in the NCAA and his 15 blocks ranks 21st nationally.
Mike Jones took over as head coach of the Monarchs from long-time coach Jeff Jones who moved into a mentor role for ODU at the end of the 2023 season. For just the second time in program history, Old Dominion University has hired an alumnus to coach the men's basketball team. Jones played for the Monarchs from 1991-95 and was a part of two tournament championship teams, he returned to ODU after spending this past season as an assistant coach at Maryland.

William & Mary are on a two-game losing streak, having lost to NC State (84-61) and App State (79-76) to bring their record to 3-5 this season. The Griffins have wins over Dickinson (84-36), Norfolk State (84-73), and Georgia Southern (102-87).
William & Mary have used a deep lineup throughout this season with 10 players averaging over 15 minutes per game. Their leading scorer and rebounder is Noah Collier with 14.1 ppg. and 5.8 rpg. W&M rank second nationally in their percentage of field goal attempts coming from deep (55.5%) and seventh in 3-pointers attempted per game (33.4).
