NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion men’s basketball team is seeking its first win of the 2024-25 season on Friday, Nov. 15, when they take on the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks at 7 p.m.
The game will have live stats and be streamed on ESPN+. Scott Jackson and Billy Mann will be on the call in Norfolk, fans can follow the broadcast on ESPN Radio 94.1.
In the last meeting against Maryland Eastern Shore on Nov. 8, 2022, ODU came out victorious 84-65 in Norfolk. Mekhi Long led the way with 25 points on 77% shooting and going 10-10 from the free throw line. Ben Stanley played 25 minutes and scored 20 points on 58% shooting.
ABOUT ODU:
Old Dominion dropped a tight 83-82 decision to Buffalo at home in the first game of the 2024-25 season on Nov 4. The team traveled across the country to take on #10 Arizona but ultimately fell to the Wildcats 102-44. On Nov. 12, ODU played in-state opponent Radford and fell 87-75 to the Highlanders.
Robert Davis Jr., a sophomore guard who transferred to ODU this year from UMass, leads the team in scoring with 20 points per game with 54% average from behind the arc. Devin Ceaser, a junior guard out of Waldorf, Maryland, ranks second on the team in scoring, averaging 16 points per game. He is coming off a 23 point performance against Radford where he shot 53% from the field. Sean Durugordon, a guard from Harlem, New York, and Stephaun Walker, a transfer junior wing out of Washington, D.C. are the leading rebounders averaging seven and six boards per game.
Mike Jones took over as head coach of the Monarchs from long-time coach Jeff Jones who moved into a mentor role for ODU at the end of the 2023 season. For just the second time in program history, Old Dominion University has hired an alumnus to coach the men's basketball team. Jones played for the Monarchs from 1991-95 and was a part of two tournament championship teams, he returned to ODU after spending this past season as an assistant coach at Maryland.

The Hawks are now standing at a 1-3 record at the start of their season as they beat Penn State Schuylkill 96-77 at home. The Hawks then fell to Miami in Oxford, Ohio, 88-70.
KC Shaw, a junior guard out of Charlotte, North Carolina, leads the Hawks in scoring with 24.8 per game and is coming off a 27-point performance against Miami (OH). Christopher Flippin, a Junior out of Metairie Louisiana leads the team in rebounding with 7.5 boards per game.
The Hawks are coached by first year head coach Cleo Hill Jr.. Hill spent the previous six seasons at Winston Salem State and holds a 211-139 all-time coaching record.

Women's basketball season tickets cost $115 for adults and include tickets to all 16 of the Monarchs' home games.
