NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion volleyball hits the road for the first time this season when the Monarchs travel to Williamsburg on Tuesday, Sept. 3 for a 6 p.m. match at William & Mary.

Series History
ODU and W&M are meeting for just the second time. The Tribe came to Norfolk last season, a match that went to the Monarchs, 3-1 on Aug. 29, 2023. Old Dominion claimed the first set 25-23, but the visitors responded with a 26-24 decision in the second set. After the Monarchs secured the third set by a final of 25-23, the Tribe jumped out to a 16-7 advantage in the fourth set. Four kills from Myah Conway and a pair of blocks by LeeAnne Lowery helped cut the deficit to 19-18. With the score knotted at 25-25, Lowery and Bryanna Jones made a critical block before Conway converted her attack attempt to seal the victory.
Conway and Jones paced the offense with 17 and 14 kills, respectively. Teresa Atilano posted a 41-assist, 11-dig double-double. On defense, the Monarchs edged the Tribe in blocking, 23-16. Bailey Burgess and Lowery recorded eight blocks each, Atilano and Conway followed with six each, and Olivia De Jesus chipped in five.
About ODU
The Monarchs (2-1) hosted the fourth annual Quest for the Crown, presented by Hilton Norfolk The Main, this past Friday and Saturday, Aug. 30-31, at the ODU Volleyball Center. ODU started off the tournament with a 3-0 win over Marist on Friday morning, then came away with another straight-set victory on Friday night versus UTSA. Old Dominion then fell 3-0 to Virginia on Saturday night to wrap up the tournament.
Myah Conway and Ashlynn Belcher were both named to the All-Tournament Team. Conway led ODU with 35 points and 30 kills while hitting for a .519 clip. She also recorded 10 blocks to go along with six digs. Belcher ended up with 50 assists as she helped the Monarchs finish with a .264 team hitting percentage, to include hitting .443 against Marist. She also served five aces with one kill and 15 digs.
Hailee Blankenship followed Conway with 23 kills and proved effective at the service line with eight aces. Lowery has 19 kills and a team-high 13 blocks through three matches played, Elisabeth Levick isn’t far behind Belcher with 40 assists, and Kate Kilpatrick heads into Tuesday’s match with 28 digs.
About William & Mary
The Tribe (1-1) defeated UTSA in four sets on Friday but suffered a 3-0 setback against Virginia on Saturday. Olivia Esposito and Sabrina Malcolm represented W&M on the All-Tournament Team. Esposito, a junior middle blocker, finished the Quest for the Crown with nine kills, seven blocks, four digs and three assists. Malcolm, a graduate student middle blocker, scored eight kills with five blocks.
Esposito earned All-CAA Second Team honors last year and earned a spot on the conference’s Preseason All-CAA Team this year after setting a program record with a .367 hitting percentage and ranking 32nd nationally with 1.27 blocks per set. The Tribe was picked to finish ninth in the league’s Preseason Poll.
Head Coach Ryan Adams enters his second season leading the program and led the Tribe to a 13-15 finish overall with an 8-10 record against CAA opponents in 2023. An experienced group, the Tribe returns 15 letterwinners from last season, including four of its starters.

ODU will be in Villanova, Pennsylvania this weekend to play in the Villanova Classic. The Monarchs will take the court against Princeton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, then return for a 4:30 p.m. meeting with Loyola (Md.) on Saturday. The team then rounds out the tournament on Sunday when they face the host Wildcats at 2 p.m.
