About ODU

The Monarchs (8-2) are on a five-game win streak as they return to Norfolk after competing in the George Mason Invitational. With help from Elisa Maggi’s 17 kill and 10 dig double-double, ODU held off George Mason in the opening match of the tournament for a 3-2 win. On the second day of tournament play, the Monarchs won three straight sets to secure their win against Quinnipiac with a score of 3-1, where Bryanna Jones had a team-high 13 kills and Ashlynn Belcher had a career-high 47 assists. To close off the tournament, ODU swept Navy in straight sets. Kate Kilpatrick served four aces to set a new career high while Myah Conway and Maggi combined for 22 kills.

Belcher and Maggi were both named to the All-Tournament Team.

About Rutgers

After a three-game homestand, where the Scarlet Knights (4-5) went 2-1, they will compete in the Old Dominion Invitational before heading back home once more. Rutgers began and ended their homestand with 3-0 sweeps against LIU and VCU. Freshman Lily Bolen had a 13 assist and 11 dig double-double against the Sharks, while redshirt freshman Alissa Kinkela hit .409 with seven digs and nine kills in their match against the Rams. Though the Scarlet Knights did fall in three sets to Binghamton, junior Aly Borellis had a team-high 21 assists alongside sophomore Zora Hardison’s season-high six blocks.

Thursday’s opening match will mark the first time that the Scarlet Knights and the Monarchs have met on the court.
