Codie van Schalkwyk and Connor van Schalkwyk Earn Bids To NCAA Doubles Championships

NORFOLK, Va. – On the strength of an outstanding record and being nationally-ranked throughout the year, Connor van Schalkwyk and Codie van Schalkwyk were announced on Monday evening as earning automatic bids to the NCAA Doubles Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

An automatic bid is awarded to a top 60 ranked doubles team from a conference.  The NCAA Doubles Championships will run May 20-25 at the Greenwood Tennis Center on the campus of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The tournament draw will be announced on May 19.

The brothers, currently ranked 54^th nationally, are 11-6 this season and had a stellar fall campaign where they made a run to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Fall National Championships falling in the national title match. They had wins over UAB, Pepperdine, Pacific and TCU in the ITA Fall Nationals.

“I am so happy for Codie and Connor. I’m not sure there is much more excitement than to qualify for the NCAA’s with your brother, but they simply deserve it. After making a run to Fall Nationals, I think they’ve got some unfinished business and I am excited for them to go against the best in the country in a couple weeks,” said ODU Head Coach Dominik Mueller.
