Women's Golf Completes Final Round at UNF Collegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Old Dominion women's golf wrapped up play at the Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate on Tuesday, finishing 17th at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club.

The two-day tournament hosted by North Florida began on Monday, but the second round was suspended due to darkness. The field then picked up where they left off Tuesday morning at 8:15 a.m. and continued right into the final round.
 
The Monarchs started off with a two-over 288 in the opening round to find themselves in a tie for third, but followed with rounds of 299 and 297 to drop in the team standings with a 54-hole total of 886 (+22). Sam Houston won the team title with a 16-under 848, UTSA finished with an 11-under 853, and the host Ospreys placed third at five-under 859. New Mexico State's Emma Bunch and UNF's Christin Eisenbeiss were co-champions after both carded 12-under 204s, and Western Kentucky's Catie Craig took third place with a final score of 8-under 208.
 
Puneet Bajwa turned in the best scorecard for the Monarchs, tying for 16th with a one-under 215. The freshman from Mohali, India shot a three-under 69 for her first round, followed by a 74 in round two and an even 72 in round three. Lucia Gonzalez tied for 76th at 226, Carley Rudolf and Leiu Yuenyong turned in a pair of 227s to tie for 80th, and Klara Wildhaber posted a 235 to tie for 95th.
 
The Monarchs also had three golfers competing as individuals. Sarah Mardani sandwiched a second round of 74 with a couple of 75s to tie for 67th with a total of 224 (+8). Minami Kudo ended up with a score of 230 to tie for 88th, and Faith Garcia recorded a 247 to place 99th.
 
"We should all be embarrassed by how we finished," said ODU Head Coach Mallory Kane. "It is time for our team to take accountability and make the correct changes. We need to play with more competitive composure and maturity. I'm going to change the lineup for Briar's Creek. We will see who is ready to step up."
 
Next up on the schedule is a trip to John's Island, South Carolina on March 11-12 to play in the Briar's Creek Invitational. College of Charleston is hosting the two-day tournament at the Golf Club at Briar's Creek.
