ORLANDO, Fla. – The Old Dominion Women's Swimming team finished Day 3 of the Sun Belt Championships in Orlando on Thursday in fourth place with 321 points. The Monarchs competed in six events on the day.
The first event of the day was the women's 100 butterfly. ODU had six swimmers score points in the event. Martina Ciriesi took second place with a time of 54.61, Kiersten Donnelly placed fourth with a time of 54.75, Lauren Masters took eighth with a time of 56.80, Tetiana Yevminova placed ninth with a time of 55.67, Brina Uhlin finished in 12th with a time of 57.62 and Angela Sicaja placed 13th with a time of 57.78.
The second event of the day was the 400 IM. Five Monarchs scored points in the event. Kristi Mosley took seventh place with a time of 4:33.61, Sophia Kapla took ninth with a time of 4:31.59, Sydney Welker finished in 12th with a time of 4:37.92, Anna Bearor took 13th with a time of 4:39.97 and Brynn Jewell finished in 14th with a time of 4:42.34.
The third event was the 200 freestyle, two swimmers scored in the event. Mallory Mackay took 10th with a time of 1:53.55 and Lilly Cleal took 14th with a time of 1:57.67.
The fourth event that ODU competed in was the 100 breaststroke where three Monarchs scored points. Mary Dunworth took fifth with a time of 1:04.18, Bridget Morris Larkin took 10th with a time 1:04.94 and Marian Cheramy took 16th with a time of 1:06.17.
The next event was the 100 backstroke. Three swimmers scored the first being Donnelly taking fourth with a time of 55.30, Samantha Allred took 12th with a time of 58.56 and Lizzy Thomas finished in 13th with a time of 58.90.
The final event of the day was the 400 medley relay, ODU's team of Donnelly, Dunworth, Ciriesi and Masters placed fourth with a time of 3:46.16.
The final day of the championships will continue tomorrow with prelims starting at 10 a.m. and finals starting at 6 p.m.
