Barbara Car Joins ODU Women's Golf 2024 Signing Class

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women's golf head coach Mallory Kane has another addition to her 2024 recruiting class as she announced the signing of Barbara Car on Friday. Car will join the Monarchs next Fall along with fellow ODU signees Alina Shchepteve and Mariana Arronte Sanchez.

"We are excited to welcome Barbara Car to ODU and our women's golf team," said Kane. "She has a decorated playing career with lots of international experience and success. Barbara's world golf ranking represents our best signee in four years. She is very grateful for this opportunity and hungry to get started this fall. We look forward to watching her compete in the classroom and on the golf course for years to come."

A native of Vodice, Slovenia, Car is currently 446th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and has previously climbed as high as 316th. The right-handed golfer has competed in 28 events in the past two years, winning seven of them and posting 17 Top 10 finishes. In 2022, she won the second and fourth tournament on the Slo Tour as well as the Slovenian National Match Play, the Slovenian National Club Team and Individual Championship, and the Slovenian International Amateur Championship. Car was also the runner-up in the first and fifth events on the Slo Tour in addition to the Hungarian Junior Open Championship.

In 2023, the future Monarch was the individual medalist at the Hungarian Junior Open Championship as well as at the fifth leg of the Slo Tour. Car took second place in the Slovenian National Match Play and the Slovenian International Junior Championship and came in third at the Slovenian International Amateur Championship.
