Women's Golf Signs Mariana Arronte Sanchez

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women's golf head coach Mallory Kane announced on Monday that Mariana Arronte Sanchez has signed her National Letter of Intent and will join the Monarchs in the fall of 2024.

"Mariana is a dedicated and accomplished student-athlete," said Kane. "She's committed to working on her game and understands what it takes to be a great teammate. We expect her to have a successful career at ODU. We look forward to her arrival next fall!"

Arronte Sanchez has posted multiple Top-5 finishes over the past couple of years. In 2022, she placed third at the Campeonato Nacional Edición Internacional. She won the Texas Junior Golf Tour's (TJGT) Rockwood Spring Break Championship, held at Rockwood Golf Course in Fort Worth, Texas on March 14-15 this year, after carding a two-over par 146. On May 20-21 at the Fort Worth Takeoff at Hawks Creek Golf Club, she turned in a one-under 143 to grab third place. She recorded a three-under 69 in the opening round of the Mexico Junior Golf Tour's Copa Centro, held on Sept. 21-24, and finished third with a 54-hole total of 215 (-1).

A native of Xalapa, Mexico, she attends Colegio Las Hayas and plays at her home course at Xalapa Golf Club. She is a member of her school's Model United Nations team and her older brother Julio is a junior on the men's golf team at Utah State. She plans to major in finance at ODU.
