GREENVILLE, S.C. – Carley Rudolf tied for 24th with a four-over par 220 to lead the Old Dominion women's golf team on the final day of Furman's Lady Paladin Invitational.
ODU turned in a combined nine-over par 297 in Friday's opening round and a seven-over 295 on Saturday, but carded a 302 for Sunday's final round to end up in 14th place at 894. The tournament hosts and Augusta turned in a pair of five-under 859s to split the team title, and Western Kentucky took third place with a two-under 862. Furman's Anna Morgan was the individual champion at 13-under 203, WKU's Catie Craig was the runner-up with an eight-under 208, and Nevada's Ana Shultse was one strong behind Craig and in third place at seven-under 209.
"We need to work on our short game," said head coach Mallory Kane. "That will be our main focus between now and the Evie Odom Invitational."
A pair of birdies and an eagle on the par-5 13th hole helped Rudolf to a one-under 71 in the first round. The Virginia Beach native followed with a 73 on Saturday and a 76 on Sunday. Klara Wildhaber and Puneet Bajwa both tied for 30th with 54-hole totals of 222. Svarin Yuenyong turned in a 230 total to tie for 72nd, Lucia Gonzalez tied for 74th with a three-round tally of 231, and Sarah Mardani nded up 99th with a 156 after having to withdraw in the final round.
Wildhaber led ODU with 12 birdies and Bajwa was next with 10. Rudolf made a team-high 37 putts for par.
The Monarchs have a few weeks before they host the third annual Evie Odom Invitational, which will be held on Oct. 6-8 at Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach.
