BOSTON, Mass. – The Old Dominion women's rowing team wrapped up its events at the Head of the Charles on Saturday in Boston, Massachusetts. ODU raced in the women's club 4+ and women's club 8+.

The first event was the women's club fours. The boat featured Savannah Hartlove as the coxswain and the crew was Afton Stahl, Lillian Copeland, Bekah Kimman and Jinjoo Noh and the team placed 35th out of 52 teams.

"Our Club 4+ came up short on the results today, but we've talked with them a lot over the past few weeks about the process being the most important thing. They definitely pushed hard which was what we asked and that is something we can build off of," said head coach Brian Conley.

In the club 8+ Old Dominion took 13th out of 40 teams. The boat featured Libby Guindon as the coxswain and her crew was Haven Habhab, Lilly Baumann, Maddie Enns, Jay Weber, Kinley Zink Sofia Bespalova, Sydnee Blackburn and Lucy Brennan.

"The eight did a nice job today. Our race plan was to attack early through the rough water and that helped us close the gap enough in Boston University that it made for a good competition all the way down the course. Our 13th place finish was 1 second shy of matching a program best of 12th place in the event.  The crew said that's a bit of fuel for them as they continue to get faster," said Conley.

"Both coxswains Libby Guindon and Savannah Hartlove did a great job steering on a notoriously challenging course. Keeping their crews in the best situation as possible throughout and stewing inside turns where they could. Overall, while it would've been nice to guarantee both entries for next year, I think the team learned some valuable lessons on racing this weekend," said Conley.

ODU is back in action on Sunday, Oct. 29 when they compete in the Head of the Lafayette in Norfolk, Virginia.
