Monarchs Set to Host the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's golf team is hosting its 13th Annual ODU/OBX Intercollegiate this Sunday through Tuesday at Kilmarlic Golf Club in Powells Point, North Carolina.

The course at Kilmarlic features a par of 71 and a total yardage of 6,563. In addition to the Monarchs, the 15-team field also includes Drake, Drexel, East Carolina, La Salle, Longwood, Navy, North Dakota, Omaha, Radford, Robert Morris, St. Bonaventure, Saint Francis (Pa.), Saint Joseph's and SIUE.

Each round will have a two-tee start off of the first and 10th holes. Sunday's opening round and Monday's second round will begin at 8:30 a.m., and Tuesday's final round will start at 8 a.m. Live scoring for the Intercollegiate can be found on GolfStat.

"We're looking forward to another exciting event on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The weather should be sunny and windy. It will be the last event of the fall for the team and I hope we're ready to play well," said head coach Murray Rudisill.

North Dakota State won last year's tournament with a 14-under par 838, SIUE came in second place with a seven-under 845, and Drexel was third with a one-under 851. ODU improved each day, but ended up ninth with a 54-hole total of 885 (+33).

On the individual side, NDSU's Nate Adams was the individual medalist after carding a 10-under 203 and Drexel's Drue Nicholas shot a seven-under 206 to earn runner-up honors. For the Monarchs, Kaijun Ma tied for 14th with a two-over 215 thanks to a round of 68 on Day Two. Jakob Henriksson was next, tying for 27th with a six-over 219, Philip Minnehan tied for 33rd with a 220 (+7), and Kazuki Yamauchi tied for 48th with a final score of 224 (+11).

In the past 12 iterations of the Intercollegiate, ODU has finished second in the team standings twice (2016 and 2019) and has finished third four times (2011, 2012, 2015 and 2017). Jamison Randall recorded a six-under par 207 to finish in a three-way tie for first in 2013. David Langley was the individual champion in 2016 with a nine-under 204, and Chad Hess tied for second with a seven-under 206 in 2017. In 2019, Gustav Fransson placed third with a seven-under 206 and teammate Rasmus Konradsson was one stroke behind and tied for fourth at 207.
