NORFOLK, Va. – After a fifth-place finish at the River Run Collegiate on Sept. 11-12 to start its fall season, the Old Dominion men's golf team returns to action this week as the Monarchs travel to Greenville, North Carolina to play in the Ironwood Classic.
East Carolina is hosting the two-day tournament this Monday and Tuesday at Ironwood Golf and Country Club. The course, opened in May of 1996, features a par of 72 and 7,120 total yards and was the first Lee Trevino Signature golf course east of the Mississippi. The tournament begins with 36 holes of continuous play on Monday, beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, and Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8 a.m. start with the field teeing off from the first and 10th tees.
In addition to the host Pirates and ODU, the 14-team field will include App State, Barton College, Cal Baptist, Delaware, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Maryland Eastern Shore, North Carolina A&T, Presbyterian, Radford, Temple and Winthrop. NC State will also have three individuals at the Classic.
ODU's lineup will consist of Jakob Chicoyne, Jakob Henriksson, Kazuki Yamauchi, Jacob Gunther and Aleksander Bjorge with Philip Minnehan competing as an individual.
