NORFOLK, Va. – Coming off a non-conference schedule that saw the Old Dominion women's soccer team record six shutouts and only surrender one goal in seven matches, the Monarchs now head into Sun Belt Conference action Friday at Coastal Carolina.
Match-time is 6 p.m. at the Coastal Carolina Soccer Stadium and will be streamed on ESPN+.
Old Dominion (5-0-2) starts league play after a 3-0 win on Sunday over High Point behind goals from Megan Watts, Thalia Morisi and Alaina McKnight. The Monarchs outshot the Panthers 27-3 and Emily Bredek recorded her fifth solo clean sheet making one save.
Coastal Carolina (3-4) enters the match after a 3-0 win on Sunday over Stetson at home. Emily Petring, Lou Martinet and Cami Wiles scoring goals for the Chanticleers. They outshot Stetson 15-3 in the contest as Vivienne Carr made two saves on the day for Coastal Carolina.
This is the fourth all-time meeting between the schools, with ODU holding a 2-1 advantage. The Monarchs celebrated Senior Day last season with a 4-0 win over Coastal Carolina on October 9, 2022.

Morisi now leads the team in goals scored (3) and points (6) heading into conference play. Anna Tørsløv and Ece Turkoglu have scored two goals with one assist apiece for five points, while Andrea Balcazar Algarin, Rhea Kijowski and Ashlynn Kulha each have one goal and one assist for three points.
In the net, Emily Bredek is tied for third nationally in shutouts (5), fifth nationally in goals against average (0.148) and save percentage (.950). Her five shutouts are tied for sixth on ODU's single-season list.
As a team, the Monarchs as of Thursday are tied with Iowa and Columbia for tops nationally in goals against average at .143 per game. ODU is also tied for second in shutout percentage (.857) and second in save percentage (.950).
ABOUT COASTAL CAROLINA
Petring leads the Chanticleers in goals scored (3) and assists (1) for seven points, while Martinet, Wiles and Natalie Yoo each have scored one goal.
In the net, Carr has a .765 save percentage and a 1.71 goals against average playing every minute thus far in 2023 as all of Coastal Carolina's wins have been by shutout.
