Chicoyne, Gunther and Minnehan Named GCAA All-America Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced its 2022-23 All-America Scholars on Wednesday and Old Dominion men's golf had three honorees in Jakob Chicoyne, Jacob Gunther and Philip Minnehan.

The three Monarchs are among 548 NCAA Division I athletes from 194 schools to be named All-America Scholars this year. In order to be eligible for the award, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.

Chicoyne competed in all 10 tournaments for ODU in 2022-23 and led the team with a 73.10 stroke average. His best finish was at the VCU Shootout, where he tied for third with a 13-under par 203. Gunther also appeared in 10 tournaments and owned a 75.96 stroke average. He took seventh in the Donald Ross Classic individual tournament with a two-round total of 12-over 154. Minnehan's best outing was also at VCU, with his 54-hole total of eight-under 208 tying him for 17th. He posted an average round of 75.61 through eight tournaments.
