NEW ORLEANS – Old Dominion University linebacker Jason Henderson was named the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year and first-team all-conference selection, while punter Ethan Duane was named a preseason second-team selection.
The nation's leading tackler a year ago, Henderson was recently named a Group of Five first-team All-American by Hero Sports last week and a preseason All-American by Athlon and Phil Steele magazines.
Henderson led the country last season with 186 tackles and recorded 11 double-digit tackle games. He earned first-team All-Sun Belt honors and was a second-team All-American by four publications.
Duane was a Sun Belt honorable mention honoree last season. He led the league with 28 punts downed inside the 20 and was sixth with a 42.9-yard average.
Henderson, Duane and company travel to Virginia Tech on Saturday, Sept. 2 in the 2023 season opener before hosting Louisiana in the home opener on Sept. 9. Single-game tickets and mini plans are on sale now.
