NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University Football placed four players on the Athlon Sports preseason All-Sun Belt Team, while linebacker Jason Henderson earned preseason second-team All-America honors.

Henderson was named to the SBC preseason first-team, while punter Ethan Duane earned third-team honors and wide receiver Javon Harvey and safety Terry Jones were named to the fourth team.

An All-American in 2022 after leading the country in tackles, Henderson recorded 11 double-digit tackle games and was the only player in the country to record multiple 20+ tackle games. He finished the year with 186 tackles, seven shy of the single-season held by Lawrence Flugence of Texas Tech (2002). He earned All-America honors from five publications last season.

Duane set a school record with 67 punts in 2022 for a 42.9-yard average. He led the Sun Belt with 28 punts downed inside the 20 and was third in the league with 12 punts of 50 yards or more.

Harvey recorded 30 receptions for 538 yards and four touchdowns last season. A junior from Norfolk, Harvey had just two receptions the first four games of last season before hauling in 28 the final eight games of the season. He recorded a pair of 100-yard receiving games, including a career-high 133 yards on four catches at App State.

Jones finished third on the team with 63 tackles along with 5.5 tackles for loss and a pair of interceptions. He recorded a season-high 11 tackles against Georgia Southern.

ODU opens the 2023 season at Virginia Tech on Saturday, Sept. 2 before hosting Louisiana on Saturday, Sept. 9 for the home opener.
