DALLAS – The 52nd-ranked Old Dominion men's tennis team opened a three-match swing in Texas on Monday dropping a 4-1 decision to 30th-ranked San Diego in a match held at SMU.
ODU (8-5) won the doubles point as Francois Le Tallec and Cosme Rolland De Ravel won 6-2 at line three to start. The clincher was Jakob Cadonau and Luca Maldoner taking a 6-3 win at line two.
San Diego responded with four straight set wins to clinch the match.
"Best doubles matches of the year for us today," said ODU Head Coach Dominik Mueller. "We made a huge step forward and worked hard to get that fixed. Singles was marginal, but at that level those margins make a huge difference. We fix those margins tomorrow and we will see a better result."
Old Dominion returns to action on Tuesday afternoon against 75th-ranked SMU at 1 p.m.
