NORFOLK, Va. – Coming off a 3-1 four-game road swing, the Old Dominion men's basketball team finishes the regular season with a pair of games this week. On Wednesday, the Monarchs entertain Sun Belt Conference leader Southern Miss at 7 p.m. Senior Night will be celebrated on Friday night as ODU hosts second-place Marshall also at 7 p.m.
The matchup with Southern Miss is the 15th all-time between the schools with ODU leading 11-3. The Monarchs won the last meeting in Mississippi 68-58 on Jan. 30, 2020. Marshall won the earlier meeting this season 73-65 to take a 14-13 lead in the series.

Mekhi Long had his sixth double-double in the last seven games with a game-high 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead four in double figures for the Old Dominion men's basketball team as they pulled out an impressive 74-63 win at Appalachian State on Saturday in a key Sun Belt Conference matchup. Tyreek Scott-Grayson added 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Dericko Williams chipped in a season-high 12 points and Charles Smith IV also had a season high with 11 points.
Neftali Alvarez poured in a game-high 19 points as the Southern Miss men's basketball team beat Georgia Southern 73-62 on Saturday for Senior Day. The Golden Eagles finished the home slate of games 15-0 to tie the 2011-12 team for the most home wins in program history.
The Marshall University men's basketball team (23-6, 12-4 Sun Belt) closed out its final home game of the regular season with an 88-78 win on Senior Day over the Troy Trojans (17-12, 9-7 Sun Belt) on Saturday night. The Herd will visit JMU before coming to Norfolk Friday night.
ABOUT ODU
ODU enters the game having won six of its last eight games after splitting last weekend on the road at JMU (L/76-67) and App State (W/74-63). Tyreek Scott-Grayson leads the team in scoring at 13.9 points per game, followed by Chaunce Jenkins (13.4) and Mekhi Long (10.6). Long leads in rebounding at 8.5 per game, with Dericko Williams (5.5) and Scott-Grayson (4.7) following.
The Monarchs have played 14 of their 16 conference games with a margin of under 10 points and an average of 5.8 points difference.
ABOUT SOUTHERN MISS
Preseason picked last, Southern Miss leads the Sun Belt Conference heading into the final week of the regular season. Austin Crowley leads the team in scoring at 16.3 ppg, with Felipe Haase (14.7) and DeAndre Pinckney (13.4) following. Pinckney leads the team in rebounding at 6.6 rpg, with Haase (6.3) and Denijay Harris (5.2) right behind. Southern Miss had a nine-game winning streak snapped in a loss to South Alabama on Feb. 16, then rebounded to defeat Georgia Southern on Feb. 18.
ABOUT MARSHALL
The Thundering Herd feature two of the top scorers in the Sun Belt Conference in Taevion Kinsey (21.9 ppg) and Andrew Taylor (20.1 ppg). Joining those two in double figures is Kamdyn Curfman at 12.0 per game. Freshman Micah Handlogten leads them on the boards (10.1 rpg) and blocked shots (67) to go with almost eight points per game. Kinsey (155) and Taylor (141) are the top two as well in assists along with steals as Taylor leads 62-52 in that category.
