Men's Basketball Starts Final Regular Season Road Trip At JMU Thursday

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's basketball team finishes a four-game road swing with a pair of games this week. On Thursday, the Monarchs will be in Harrisonburg to face James Madison at 7 p.m. Two days later, ODU will be in Boone, N.C. to tangle with Appalachian State at 4 p.m.
 
The matchup with James Madison is the 88th in the series with ODU holding a 58-29 advantage. JMU won the earlier matchup this season 78-73 on February 2. The App State game will be the second all-time matchup as the Mountaineers won the inaugural encounter 72-58 on January 21 in Norfolk.

The ODU Sports Radio Network will have the radio broadcast both days with Ted Alexander and Dave Twardzik on the call starting at 6:30 p.m. with the Toyota Pregame Show on Thursday and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Texas native Imo Essien dropped in a floater as the final horn sounded, enabling Old Dominion to take a 70-68 win over Texas State in a Sun Belt Conference men's basketball battle on Saturday afternoon. Chaunce Jenkins scored 19 points to lead all scorers, while Tyreek Scott-Grayson added 18 and Ben Stanley had 12 for the Monarchs.
 
James Madison ran off a 17-5 run to close its final true road game of the season on Saturday afternoon, battling back for a 73-66 win over Coastal Carolina in Sun Belt Conference men's basketball action at the HTC Center. The Dukes (18-9, 9-5 SBC) battled back from 12 points down in the second half, holding Coastal to a 29% (9-31) shooting performance after halftime and hitting their final five shots of the contest to turn a five-point deficit into a seven-point lead.
 
App State dropped its road contest against South Alabama on Saturday, 74-57. The Mountaineers (14-13, 7-7 SBC) were active on the offensive glass, grabbing 12 rebounds that led to 14 second-chance points, but the Jaguars (12-14, 6-8 SBC) never trailed after a hot start. Donovan Gregory led the Mountaineers with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists as the Black & Gold showed three double-digit scorers. Terence Harcum added 11 points and three rebounds and Justin Abson posted 10 and four.

ODU heads into the final road trip of the regular season with four players in double figures. Scott-Grayson leads at 14.4 points per game, while Jenkins is close behind at 13.9 points per contest. Ben Stanley is averaging 10.3 points, while Long is at 10.2 per game. Jenkins leads in assists (71), while Scott-Grayson is next (66). Long leads in rebounding at 8.6 per game, with Dericko Williams (5.5) and Scott-Grayson (4.8) following.

JMU has four players averaging in double figures with Terrence Edwards leading at 12.7  points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Vado Morse is next at 12.0 points per game, with Takal Molson (10.9 ppg) and Mezie Offurum adding 10.5 ppg and a team-best 5.3 rebounds per game.
 
ABOUT APP STATE
Donovan Gregory leads the Mountaineers in scoring (12.7 ppg) and assists (113), while Tyree boykin is next in scoring (11.2 ppg) and Terence Harcum is adding 11 points per game and leading in 3-pointers made (50) and percentage (.379).
