NORFOLK, Va. – Faced with a 3-1 deficit on Sunday afternoon with Wisconsin, the Old Dominion men's tennis team rallied with a trio of three-set wins at the top three spots to score a 4-3 victory over the Badgers.
Wisconsin opened doubles with wins at the three spot (6-4) and clinched the team point with a win at the top spot (6-1).
Singles saw the Monarchs get on the board first as Yanis Moundir took a 6-4, 6-4 win at line six, but right after that the Badgers regained the lead with a win at line five.
A tough three-set loss at line four for ODU put the Monarchs on the brink, but the rally began as Codie van Schalkwyk took a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at line two over Jason Hildebrandt to trim the deficit to 3-2.
Francois Le Tallec brought the Monarchs back even with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win at line three singles for a 3-3 team score. Younes Lalami got the clincher with a third-set tiebreaker as he won 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4) win at line one.
The Monarchs are now off until February 10 when they'll host Auburn at 11 a.m. and then face Norfolk State at 3 p.m.

This is what college tennis is about. Guys kept hanging around, down 1-3 with having to win three three-set matches. Younes was down a match point and got to tiebreaker with serving an ace at the end to finish it. The whole team stepped up big time and I am really proud of how we finished things today. To have the response today after Friday showed a lot of character from our guys.
