PHILADELPHIA - Old Dominion women's golfers Leah Onosato and Pilar Muguruza became the first Monarchs to compete in the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship in Philadelphia and came away with a pair of top 12 finishes in the Women's Individual Championship that concluded Wednesday.

"We are very proud of how Leah and Pilar represented ODU. PGA Works put on an incredible championship, and we are so appreciative of the opportunity to compete," said ODU Head Coach Mallory Kane. "I thought both Leah and Pilar handled the tough conditions well and you can certainly see their hard working paying off in competition. It was great for them to finish the year on such a high note!"

The tournament was held at the Union League Golf Club in Philadelphia. The first and third rounds were on the Liberty Hill course that played to a par-72 at 6,159 yards, while the second was played on the Torresdale course that played to a par-70 at 5,715 yards.

On the par-5 holes in the event, Onosato was tied for the lowest score playing them at a combined 2-under par. Muguruza was tied for fifth in the par-3 holes playing them a combined 2-over par for the tournament.

The PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship (PWCC) was created in 1986 to highlight competitive golf programs at the most underserved and underrepresented Minority-Serving Institutions in the country and educate and inspire student-athletes to pursue career opportunities in the business of golf and beyond. PWCC is considered the most culturally significant championship in collegiate golf (82% of 2021 players identified as "non-white").
