LYNCHBURG, Va. – Old Dominion University men's swimming finished in fourth place at the CCSA Championships, while Jacob Cobb and Noah Wilkins led the way on the final night in Lynchburg.
"I am so proud of our Monarchs," ODU head coach Jess Livsey said. "Their hard work this season was showcased in their swims this week and I know the future is bright for this young group."
In the first event of the night, Noah Wilkins secured a podium with a third-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 44.32. Ryan Lincicum came in ninth with a time of 46.16 and Liam Redman finished 14th in 46.03.
Jacob Cobb followed Wilkins with a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke. Cobb's time was a season-best 1:47.80. Gustaf Hansson added points for the Monarchs with a 13th place finish in a time of 1:52.24.
Hugo Eriksson notched an eighth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:06.78. AJ Profaca came in 14th with a time of 2:12.06.
Carson Doll led five Monarchs in the 1650 freestyle, placing sixth with a season-best time of 15:53.31. Hunter Young came in 14th in 16:26.66, Thomas Ray finished 15th in 16:35.66, Will McDermott swam to a time of 16:58.63 and Brennan Carroll slipped into 18th with a time of 17:00.38.
In the final event of the championship, ODU placed third in the 4X100 freestyle relay with a time of 3:01.19. Wilkins' split 100 free time of 42.81 was the fastest of any swimmer in the race.
ODU will take a team of qualified swimmers to the National Invitational Championship on March 10-12 which will take place in Elkhart, Indiana.
