NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's soccer team prepares to travel to North Carolina to play the Charlotte 49ers on Saturday, October 9 at 7 p.m. at Transamerica Field. The match will be on CUSA.tv.  

Old Dominion (2-5-1, 0-2-1 C-USA) is coming off of a 1-0 loss against reigning NCAA Champions Marshall. ODU was led on the attack by Eliot Goldthorp, Josh Thacker, Paul Skoczylas and Jose Olmos with one shot on goal apiece. Goldthorp leads ODU in shots (17) and is ninth in the league in shots per game (2.13). Ettore Casadei sits underneath Goldthorp tied for tenth in shots per game as well (2).  

Djibril Doumbia recorded five saves for the match, and his tied for second in for C-USA in saves (32) and tied for first in saves per game with Neil Struaber from FIU in saves per game (4).  

Charlotte (6-3-0, 1-1-0 C-USA) is coming off of a 4-0 loss against No. 21 ranked FIU on Saturday. The 49ers were led on the attack by Alessandro Negri who had two shots, one on goal, and by JP Mbuthia who had one shot on goal. Kameron Lacey is tied for seventh in C-USA in shots (20) and ranked eighth for shots per game (2.22).  

Thomas Wallis shared the match with Daniel Kuzemka who made two saves. Kuzemka is tied with Doumbia in saves (32) but is ranked third in saves per game (3.56). In turn, Kuzemka is ranked sixth in save percentage (.72) while Doumbia is ranked seventh (.69). 

ODU and Charlotte last played on the same field in the 2021 spring season when ODU lost 3-0 at the ODU Soccer Complex.
