PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – Carter Morgan carded a tournament-low 65 (-7) on Tuesday to share co-medalist honors with No. 36-ranked Pontus Nyholm of Campbell at the Golfweek Spring Invitational, held at the par-72, 6,940-yard True Blue Golf Club on Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

"I was very proud of the team this tournament," head coach Murray Rudisill said. "We played three rounds and were under par for all three. We played extremely well but not quite good enough to win. Carter had another great tournament, and it was good to have back-to-back individual champions the last two events. We are getting better each tournament, and hopefully we are peaking at the right time."

The senior from Tappahannock, Virginia finished the three-round event at 13-under 203 (70-68-65). Morgan bettered his score in each round of the event, culminating with his second-lowest score as a Monarch in the final round.

Morgan received medalist honors for the second time as a Monarch after winning the VCU Invitational on Sept. 18, 2019. Tuesday's result comes one week after freshman Jakob Henriksson won the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate, giving the Old Dominion men's golf team multiple medalists in the same season for the first time since the 2009-10 season, when Eric Onesi won two events.

After going out at 1-under on Tuesday, Morgan blazed through the back nine. He tallied four total birdies and one eagle over the final nine holes and finished his round with an eagle on the par-5 15th and three-straight birdies on the 16th, 17th and 18th holes.

Morgan tallied 14 total birdies across his 54 holes, which was tied for the second most. He also notched a pair of eagles – tied for the most among the field of 57. Along with Nyholm, Morgan was the best player on par-4s at 6-under and was near the top of the field in par-5 scoring as well (-7).

Rasmus Konradsson went under par for the second time at the invitational with a final-round 71 and finished in a three-way tie for seventh at 5-under 211 (67-73-71). The senior from Sundsvall, Sweden notched three birdies in his final four holes to get back under par for the day and finished the event with 14 total birdies.

Henriksson finished tied for 24th at 217 following a final-round 74. Gustav Fransson also carded a 74 on Tuesday to finish tied for 33rd at 220. Filip Wetterqvist notched his second-straight 73 for a total of 221 and a 37th-place finish.

As a team, the Monarchs moved up one spot on Tuesday to finish third at 14-under 850 (286-281-283). ODU placed just two strokes behind runner-up Campbell. North Dakota State won going away at 22-under 842.

On the whole, Old Dominion tallied 56 total birdies, third-most among the 10 teams at the invitational, and was tied for second with four eagles.

The Monarchs return to action with the Old Corkscrew Collegiate on April 12 and 13 in Estero, Florida. That event represents a final tune-up before the Conference USA Championships, which run April 26-29.
