CINCINNATI – Claire Porter notched her second hat trick of the season as the Old Dominion women's lacrosse team fell 17-6 at Cincinnati on Sunday.

Sunday's game was just the third three-goal outing in Porter's career. The native of Berlin, Maryland also netted three goals against Liberty back on March 10.

The Monarchs (3-12, 1-7 American) trailed the Bearcats (6-8, 2-6) by a 5-1 margin before scoring two of the next three goals near the midway point of the first half. Porter's second goal of the game made it 5-2. Following a score from Monica Borzillo, Corrinne Stratton found the back of the net with 10:44 left on the clock. Leading 6-3, Cincinnati netted the next four goals across both halves to build a 10-3 advantage.

ODU scored a pair of shorthanded goals in quick succession to cut into the deficit. Maddie Mullenbach assisted Ali Mills at the 15:55 mark of the second half. Less than 20 seconds later, Mullenbach set up Brooke Ferringer for the first goal of her career.

Cincinnati responded to the Monarchs' thrust with five-unanswered goals. Porter completed her hat trick with 5:46 to go in the game to make the score 15-6.

Lauren Carey and starting goalkeeper Jenna Peccia each grabbed six ground balls on Sunday – the game high and the most by a Monarch in a game this season. Carey, who leads the team with 39 ground balls, also chipped in a caused turnover. Madison Corcoran forced a pair of turnovers to lead the team.

Danielle Dundas snared a team-best four draw controls for her fourth game this season with four or more draw controls. Caroline Shaefer added three draw controls to bring her season tally to 44 – the eighth-highest mark in ODU single-season history.

Peccia made a personal-best 12 saves.

Sam Mlkvy scored four times to lead the Bearcats.

The Monarchs wrap up the regular season with home games against No. 9 Florida on Friday, April 23 and Sunday, April 25.
