NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-5 road contest to Vanderbilt in American Athletic Conference play on Thursday afternoon. Lilly Siskind notched a pair of goals in the loss.
A Preseason All-American Athletic Conference honoree, Siskind now has 24 goals, 10 assists and 34 points on the season. The native of West Chester, Pennsylvania has nearly doubled her career goal tally this season after entering the year with 25 career markers.
The Commodores (10-2, 5-0 American) scored first and never looked back to extend their winning streak to eight games. Trailing 2-0, the Monarchs (3-9, 1-4) got on the board by way of an unassisted woman-up goal by Siskind at the 23:49 mark.
After Siskind's marker, Vanderbilt rattled off six unanswered to build an 8-1 advantage. Danielle Dundas found the back of the net with 5:45 remaining in the first half for her 11th goal of the season. From there, the Commodores scored three more times to take an 11-2 edge into the break.
Dundas ranks fifth on the team with 11 goals and six assists.
Cassidy Orban netted the first goal of the second half with 23:14 on the clock, but three of the next four tallies went to ODU. Dundas set up Corrinne Stratton at the 20:43 mark to make the score 12-3. Following another goal by VU, Siskind and Claire Porter tacked on back-to-back goals roughly six minutes apart. As was the case in the first half, the Commodores notched three-straight goals to end the second half and produce the final score.
Maria Rekus and Madison Corcoran shared the game high in ground balls with three and caused one turnover apiece. Isabelle O'Connell picked up a pair of ground balls and caused one turnover as well.
ODU enjoyed a 12-10 edge in draw controls. Emily Goline had three draw controls to lead the team and to match her season high, and Stratton and Dundas had two each.
Sabrina Leatherwood started in goal for the Monarchs and made five saves in 46:28 of action. Brianna Blatter came off the bench to record three stops.
Orban recorded a hat trick for the Commodores and snared a game-high six draw controls. Halle Regan scooped up three ground balls and caused three turnovers.
The two sides play once more on Saturday at noon ET.
